She may have needed to truly believe that Henry was lost to her for the kiss to work, and Rumplestiltskin probably knew this. If she went in knowing that he wasn’t really dead, and had just tried kissing him, then she may not have had the depth of emotion needed to tap into that particular magic. It was a similar situation with Snow and Charming. Charming didn’t kiss Snow with the intent to break the spell, he was kissing her goodbye. It may be that this feeling of loss was needed in addition to “true loves kiss” to break this particular spell.

I literally ship ALL the things. I love and will always love Golden Swan. And I love Swan Queen, and Charmple, and yes, I loved seeing the reunion. Because I ship EVERYTHING. Honestly, this show could end with Snow divorcing James and marrying Regina, and I’d probably be okay with it. Don’t hate on anybody for shipping what they do. Learn to see the good and bad aspects of all ships, and you’ll be happier. Trust me.
